At BNPS we have an enthusiastic group of parents which make up our Parents and Friends Association (P&FA). The P&FA is involved in a range of activities from fundraising to social and community events. It aims to support the school to provide an outstanding learning environment for students, teachers, staff and the wider community.
The events organised by the P&FA include:
Funds raised by the Parents and Friends Association help to fund significant improvements to our school. In recent years, the funds have been used to install air-conditioning, build the vegetable garden, renovate our junior toilet block, refurnish the school library and landscape the entrance to the school.
The P&FA Committee is elected each year, with positions for President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and General Committee members. The Committee meets once a month, currently on the second Wednesday of each month at 9am. All parents are invited to attend the meeting, and notices are placed in the School Bulletin and sent via email to parents.
As the P&FA membership is always changing (parents leave as their children finish at BNPS), all parents are invited to attend to join the committee or lend a hand during the events. The old adage “many hands make light work” is certainly true with the P&FA. At the commencement of each school year, the P&FA holds a morning tea, which is a good chance for all parents to meet our Committee members, and find out more about what we do.
The benefits of volunteering have been well documented, including:
If all the above is not enough, volunteering for the P&FA at BNPS will also help improve our school for our children.
Jean Fredericks, Parents and Friends Association President.
